When this route is the right one

You need ETH on Ethereum — to pay gas for a token transfer, to interact with a contract, to buy something priced in ETH — and what you hold is XMR. Nothing on Ethereum can be done without ETH in the wallet, so this is often the first step before anything else.

The two chains do not connect. A Monero wallet has no concept of a 0x… address, and Ethereum cannot see Monero. The XMR is received here first, with 5 confirmations taking about 11–24 minutes, and ETH is then sent to your address as a plain transfer on Ethereum mainnet.

What happens, in order

  1. Enter the amount and your Ethereum address

Paste the 42-character 0x… address of the wallet that should receive ETH. The estimate is in ETH.

  2. Send XMR to the deposit address

A one-time Monero address (4…) and a QR code appear. Send from any Monero wallet; leave the payment ID empty.

  3. Monero confirms

5 confirmations, about 11–24 minutes. The ETH amount is fixed at the fifth confirmation.

  4. ETH is paid out on Ethereum

The status page links the payout on Etherscan. Ethereum blocks come every 12 seconds, so the ETH is spendable within a minute of being sent.

Before you send — checklist

  • The 0x… address is on Ethereum mainnet. The same address exists on Base, Arbitrum, BNB Smart Chain and others; ETH sent on mainnet appears only in the mainnet balance.
  • If the address is an exchange deposit address, the deposit page says ETH on the Ethereum network — not on an L2 and not as a BEP-20 token.
  • The XMR you are sending is unlocked (received more than 10 blocks ago).
  • If the receiving address is a smart-contract wallet, it accepts plain ETH transfers. Ordinary wallets always do.
  • You saved the status link.

The two mistakes that cost money on this route

An exchange address for ETH on a different network

Exchanges let you deposit ETH on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base and more, often at the same 0x… address. The payout here is on Ethereum mainnet. If you opened the deposit page for Arbitrum and expect the credit there, it will not appear; whether the exchange credits a mainnet deposit instead depends on that exchange.

Treating the Monero wait as a stuck swap

Ten minutes after sending, the status page still says waiting for confirmations. That is normal for Monero: the fifth block arrives 11–24 minutes after you send. Do not send a second deposit.

Other ways to make the same move

WayWhat you needWhere it is slower or dearer

What is visible on-chain

Your deposit is a Monero transaction: the explorer confirms the hash and the block and discloses nothing else. The payout is a plain ETH transfer and Etherscan shows it in full — sender, your address, amount, gas, time. From that moment the ETH balance at your address is public, as is everything you do with it. If you want the two sides kept apart, use an Ethereum address that has no history yet.

FAQ

How long does it take?

About 11–24 minutes for the 5 Monero confirmations; the ETH transfer that follows confirms in about 12 seconds.

Is the ETH sent to Ethereum mainnet or to an L2?

Mainnet only. This route does not pay ETH on Arbitrum, Optimism, Base or any other rollup.

Can I use the ETH immediately?

Yes. Ethereum has no lock period; once the payout transaction is in a block the balance can pay gas or be sent on.

Does a Monero deposit need a payment ID?

No. The deposit address is created for this swap only. Leave the payment ID field in your wallet blank.

What is the minimum?

It is shown under the amount field and moves with the Monero fee and Ethereum gas.

What if the swap cannot be completed?

Write to support with the swap ID from the status page. The form has no refund address: a swap that cannot be completed is handled by hand, and a return to the address you sent from is arranged under the partner's rules, less the network fee.
