When this route is the right one

You hold XRP and the dollars are needed on TRON — the network most invoices, exchanges and payment services mean when they say USDT and show a T… address. Both ledgers confirm fast, so this is one of the quicker routes on the site: about 2–5 minutes end to end.

An XRP payment can only reach an r… address on the XRP Ledger; a TRON wallet cannot receive it. The XRP is received here and confirmed — 2 confirmations, and a validated ledger is final — then USDT is transferred on TRON to the T… address you gave. Two XRP-specific things matter on the way in: the destination tag, if the deposit details show one, and the account reserve, which stops you from sending the very last XRP in the wallet.

What happens, in order

  1. Enter the XRP amount and your TRON address

Paste the T… address that should receive USDT. The estimate is in USDT; the minimum is under the amount field.

  2. Send XRP to the deposit address

You get a one-time r… deposit address. If the deposit details include a destination tag, enter it in your wallet's tag field exactly as shown — a payment without it may not be matched to your swap.

  3. The XRP Ledger confirms

2 confirmations. Once the payment is in a validated ledger it is final, and the USDT amount is fixed at that moment.

  4. USDT is paid out on TRON

The status page links the Tronscan transaction that pays your T… address. It is final after 1 TRON confirmation.

Before you send — checklist

  • The receiving address is a TRON address: 34 characters, starting with T.
  • If it belongs to an exchange, the deposit page was opened for USDT on TRON (TRC-20) — the same T… string is used for TRX deposits.
  • The deposit details were copied in full: the r… address and, if one is shown, the destination tag.
  • Your XRP wallet keeps its reserve. The XRP Ledger requires 1 XRP in every account and 0.2 XRP for each object the account owns, such as a trust line (xrpl.org, checked on 12 October 2026). A payment that would dip below the reserve is rejected.
  • You saved the status link. It is the only place the swap is tracked.

The two mistakes that cost money on this route

Leaving the destination tag out

Services that receive XRP for many customers share one r… address and tell customers apart by tag. The ledger accepts an untagged payment unless the account has the RequireDest flag set — so the payment goes through, but nothing links it to your swap. Check the tag field before you confirm, both for the deposit and for any exchange address you give elsewhere.

Trying to send the whole balance

The reserve and the transaction fee stay behind. A wallet that lets you type the full balance will see the payment rejected by the ledger. Set the amount so that at least the 1 XRP base reserve, any owner reserve and the fee remain.

Other ways to make the same move

WayWhat you needWhere it is slower or dearer
An exchange accountAn account, an XRP deposit with the exchange's tag, a sale, a TRC-20 withdrawalTwo waits and a withdrawal fee; the TRON network must be chosen on the way out
A peer-to-peer tradeSomeone who wants XRP and holds USDT on TRON, plus escrow or trustA negotiated price and the counterparty's schedule

What is visible on-chain

XRP Ledger payments are fully public. Bithomp shows your r… address paying the deposit address with the amount, the destination tag and the ledger index. Tronscan shows a payout address sending USDT to your T… address, with the amount and the time. Nothing on either ledger refers to the other; the status link is the only thing that joins them.

FAQ

How long does it take?

About 2–5 minutes. The XRP Ledger needs 2 confirmations, and a validated ledger is final; the TRON payout follows and confirms in seconds.

What is the minimum?

The form shows it under the amount field. It moves with the TRON fee of the payout and the XRP price.

What if the swap cannot be completed?

Write to support with the swap ID from the status page. The form has no refund address: a swap that cannot be completed is handled by hand, and a return to the address you sent from is arranged under the partner's rules, less the network fee.

What is the destination tag, and do I always need it?

A 32-bit number that a service receiving XRP on one shared address uses to tell its customers apart. Your own wallet needs none. Enter it only when the deposit details, or the receiving service, show one.

Why can't I send all my XRP?

Every XRP Ledger account must hold the base reserve of 1 XRP, plus 0.2 XRP for each trust line or other object it owns. The reserve cannot be sent; the ledger rejects the payment. The figures come from xrpl.org and change only through validator voting.

Do I need TRX to receive the USDT?

Not to receive — the sender pays the TRON fee. You need TRX, or rented energy, only when you move the USDT on.
