# Swap ZEC to USDT ERC-20

Swap Zcash for USDT on Ethereum without an account: enter the amount, paste a 0x… address and send ZEC from any Zcash wallet.

- **Arrival:** ≈ 9–19 min

- **Confirmations:** 6 on Zcash

- **Rate:** Floating

- **Fee token after arrival:** ETH

## When this route is the right one

You hold ZEC and need dollars where Ethereum apps, lending markets and most large exchanges expect them: USDT as an ERC-20 token at a 0x… address. Ethereum is the dearest of the USDT networks to transact on, so this route suits an amount that will sit in the wallet or go to a service that credits ERC-20 deposits.

A Zcash wallet sends only to Zcash addresses, and Ethereum reads nothing from the Zcash chain. The ZEC is received here and confirmed on Zcash — 6 confirmations at the 75-second block target, about 9–19 minutes — then USDT is transferred on Ethereum to the address you gave. Gas for that transfer is paid by the sending address, so the payout needs no ETH from you.

## ZEC vs USDT ERC-20 — side by side

| | ZEC on Zcash | USDT on Ethereum ERC-20 |
|---|---|---|
| Address format | t1… or u1… | 0x… (42 characters) |
| Fee token | ZEC | ETH |
| Confirmations we wait for | 6 | 15 |
| Explorer | blockchair.com | etherscan.io |

## What happens, in order

1. Enter the ZEC amount and your Ethereum address Paste the 0x… address (42 characters) that should receive USDT. The estimate is in USDT.
2. Send ZEC to the deposit address You get a one-time Zcash deposit address. Send from any Zcash wallet. If the deposit address is a transparent t1… address, a wallet holding shielded ZEC can pay it directly; the amount becomes visible on chain at that point.
3. Zcash confirms 6 confirmations, about 9–19 minutes. The USDT amount is fixed at the sixth block.
4. USDT is paid out on Ethereum The status page links the Etherscan transaction: a USDT token transfer from a payout address to your 0x… address.

## Before you send — checklist

- The receiving address is an Ethereum mainnet address: 0x…, 42 characters. The same string on Arbitrum, Base or BNB Smart Chain does not show this payout.
- If it is an exchange address, its USDT deposit page says ERC-20 or Ethereum.
- Your Zcash wallet is fully synced. A wallet still scanning the chain may show a balance it cannot spend yet.
- There is, or will be, a little ETH in the receiving wallet. Holding USDT costs nothing; every transfer out of the wallet needs gas in ETH.
- You saved the status link. It is the only place the swap is tracked.

## The two mistakes that cost money on this route

### Arriving with no ETH

The USDT will be in the wallet, visible and yours — and stuck until the wallet holds ETH for the gas of the next transaction. On Ethereum that gas is the base fee plus a priority fee, and it rises when the network is busy. Top up ETH first if you plan to move the USDT on.

### A 0x… address from another network

Rollups and BNB Smart Chain use the same address format as Ethereum. A deposit page or a wallet tab opened for one of them shows an address that looks right and is wrong for this route. The payout is an ERC-20 transfer on Ethereum mainnet; confirm the network name next to the address, not just the address.

## Other ways to make the same move

| Way | What you need | Where it is slower or dearer |
|---|---|---|
| An exchange account | An account, a ZEC deposit with the exchange's confirmation count, a sale, an ERC-20 withdrawal | Two waits and a withdrawal fee that is often large on Ethereum |
| A peer-to-peer trade | Someone who wants ZEC and holds USDT on Ethereum, plus escrow or trust | A negotiated price and the counterparty's schedule |
| This swap | Two addresses | A floating rate fixed at the sixth Zcash confirmation |

## What is visible on-chain

Blockchair shows the Zcash deposit transaction. If it was paid from a transparent address, the inputs, the amount and the deposit address are all visible; if it was paid from a shielded pool, the explorer shows the transparent output that reached the deposit address and nothing about where it came from. Etherscan shows a USDT transfer from a payout address to your 0x… address, under the token transfers tab, with the amount, the block and the gas the sender paid.

## FAQ

How long does it take?

About 9–19 minutes for the 6 Zcash confirmations. The Ethereum transfer follows and shows on Etherscan as soon as it is included in a block.

What is the minimum?

The form shows it under the amount field. It moves with the Ethereum gas price, which sets what the USDT transfer costs, and with the ZEC price.

What if the swap cannot be completed?

Write to support with the swap ID from the status page. The form has no refund address: a swap that cannot be completed is handled by hand, and a return to the address you sent from is arranged under the partner's rules, less the network fee.

Which Zcash address types can I send from?

Transparent t1… addresses and unified u1… addresses. Legacy z… addresses from the Sprout or Sapling-only era are not accepted. A unified address bundles up to three receivers — Orchard, Sapling and transparent (ZIP 316, checked on 12 October 2026) — and a sender that supports only transparent payments uses the transparent receiver inside it, if there is one.

Do I need ETH to receive the USDT?

No. The payout's gas is paid by the sending address. You need ETH only to move the USDT afterwards.

Can I send ZEC from an exchange?

Yes, withdrawing on the Zcash network to the deposit address. Exchanges deduct their withdrawal fee from the amount, so withdraw a little more than the figure on this page.
