# Swap XRP to HYPE

Swap XRP for HYPE without an account: enter the amount, paste your 0x… address on HyperEVM and send XRP from any wallet.

- **Arrival:** ≈ 2–5 min

- **Confirmations:** 2 on XRP Ledger

- **Rate:** Floating

- **Fee token after arrival:** HYPE

## When this route is the right one

You hold XRP and want HYPE — the coin of Hyperliquid, which pays for gas on HyperEVM — to use an application there, to hold the coin, or to move it into a Hyperliquid trading account afterwards.

The XRP Ledger and HyperEVM share nothing. Your XRP goes to a one-time r… address and is counted after 2 validated ledgers — about 2–5 minutes with processing, since ledgers close every 3–5 seconds — and HYPE is then sent as the native coin on HyperEVM, chain ID 999 (Hyperliquid docs, checked on 12 October 2026), to the 0x… address you gave.

## XRP vs HYPE — side by side

| | XRP on XRP Ledger | HYPE on HyperEVM |
|---|---|---|
| Address format | r… + destination tag | 0x… (42 characters) |
| Fee token | XRP | HYPE |
| Confirmations we wait for | 2 | 10 |
| Explorer | bithomp.com | hyperevmscan.io |

## What happens, in order

1. Enter the XRP amount and your HyperEVM address Paste a 42-character 0x… address from a wallet connected to HyperEVM. The estimate is in HYPE and moves until the deposit is validated.
2. Send XRP to the deposit address You get a one-time r… deposit address. If the deposit panel shows a destination tag next to it, include that tag exactly. Send the exact amount from any XRP wallet.
3. The XRP Ledger validates We wait for 2 validated ledgers — seconds — and the HYPE amount is fixed.
4. HYPE is paid out on HyperEVM The status page links your payment on Bithomp and the payout on hyperevmscan.io; the HYPE appears as the native balance of your 0x… address.

## Before you send — checklist

- The receiving address is a 0x… address and the wallet that owns it has HyperEVM added (chain ID 999).
- If the swap page shows a destination tag for the deposit, you entered it in your XRP wallet's tag field.
- You are sending XRP from a wallet or exchange on the XRP Ledger; the exchange's withdrawal fee comes out of the amount.
- You know where you want the HYPE to live afterwards: on HyperEVM, or in a Hyperliquid trading account, which is a separate step you do yourself.
- You saved the status link.

## The two mistakes that cost money on this route

### Giving the HyperCore system address as the receiving address

Hyperliquid's docs describe 0x2222222222222222222222222222222222222222 as the system address that moves HYPE from HyperEVM into HyperCore (checked on 12 October 2026). That is an address you send to from your own wallet after the swap, if you want the HYPE in your trading account. Entering it as the receiving address here sends the payout into a system contract on someone else's behalf — not into your account.

### Forgetting the destination tag on the deposit

If the deposit panel shows a tag, the XRP side relies on it to match your payment to this swap. A payment to the address without the tag arrives on the ledger but is not attributed, and sorting it out needs the transaction hash and support. Exchanges ask for the tag in a separate field when you withdraw.

## Other ways to make the same move

| Way | What you need | Where it is slower or dearer |
|---|---|---|
| An exchange that lists both coins | An account, an XRP deposit with the exchange's tag, a trade, a HYPE withdrawal — if the exchange withdraws on HyperEVM | Two waits and a withdrawal fee; not every exchange that lists HYPE withdraws to HyperEVM |
| Sell XRP for a stablecoin, bridge it, buy HYPE on Hyperliquid | An exchange, a bridge, a Hyperliquid account with a deposit, a trade, a transfer to EVM | Four or five steps and several fees |
| This swap | Two addresses — plus the deposit tag if shown | A floating rate fixed at the second validated ledger |

## What is visible on-chain

Bithomp shows your Payment from your r… address to the deposit address, with the amount, the destination tag if any, and the ledger it was validated in. hyperevmscan.io shows a transaction from a payout address to your 0x… address with a value in HYPE — the native coin, not a token transfer — and the block. Both are public; neither chain records the other.

## FAQ

How long does it take?

About 2–5 minutes. The XRP Ledger validates the deposit within a few ledgers of 3–5 seconds each; most of the time is processing and the HyperEVM payout.

Is the HYPE paid into my Hyperliquid trading account?

No. It is paid as the native coin on HyperEVM to the 0x… address you gave. If you want it in a HyperCore trading account, Hyperliquid's docs describe sending it from your wallet to the system address 0x2222…2222 (checked on 12 October 2026). Do that yourself, from the wallet, after the payout.

Do I need another token for gas on HyperEVM?

No. HYPE is the native gas token on HyperEVM, so the coin you receive is also what pays for your next transaction there.

Do I need a destination tag for the deposit?

Only if the swap page shows one next to the deposit address. If it does, enter it in your wallet's tag field; if it does not, leave the field empty.

What is the minimum?

It is shown under the amount field and follows the XRP and HYPE prices.

What if the swap cannot be completed?

Write to support with the swap ID from the status page. The form has no refund address: a swap that cannot be completed is handled by hand, and a return to the address you sent from is arranged under the partner's rules, less the network fee.
