# Swap USDT TRC-20 to USDT ERC-20

Move USDT from TRON to Ethereum without an account: enter the amount, paste your 0x… address and send from any TRON wallet.

- **Arrival:** ≈ 2–5 min

- **Confirmations:** 1 on TRON

- **Rate:** Floating

- **Fee token after arrival:** ETH

## When this route is the right one

You hold USDT on TRON and need it on Ethereum: a DeFi protocol that only accepts ERC-20, a lending or trading venue with an ERC-20 deposit page, a counterparty whose wallet is on Ethereum and who will not touch TRON. Ethereum is the more expensive network to move on, so this is usually done once, for a purpose, rather than for everyday payments.

A TRC-20 transfer cannot reach a 0x… address. The USDT has to be received on TRON and paid out as a separate ERC-20 transfer on Ethereum. That second transfer costs gas; the estimate you see already accounts for it, so the ERC-20 amount is a little below the TRC-20 amount you send.

## TRON vs Ethereum — what changes and what doesn't

| | USDT on TRON TRC-20 | USDT on Ethereum ERC-20 |
|---|---|---|
| Address format | T… (34 characters) | 0x… (42 characters) |
| Fee token | TRX (or rented energy) | ETH |
| Confirmations we wait for | 1 | 15 |
| Explorer | tronscan.org | etherscan.io |
| Issued by | Tether | Tether |
| Contract | TR7NHqjeKQxGTCi8q8ZY4pL8otSzgjLj6t | 0xdAC17F958D2ee523a2206206994597C13D831ec7 |

Both tokens are issued by Tether; both contracts appear on Tether's page of supported protocols (checked on 12 October 2026). The ERC-20 contract is the older one and is what most Ethereum applications mean by USDT. What differs is the cost of moving: a TRC-20 transfer costs energy or a little TRX, an ERC-20 transfer costs gas in ETH that varies with demand.

## What happens, in order

1. Enter the amount and the Ethereum address Paste the 42-character 0x… address that should receive USDT on Ethereum. The estimate is in USDT ERC-20.
2. Send USDT on TRON You get a one-time T… deposit address. Send from any TRON wallet; the wallet pays in energy or TRX.
3. TRON confirms 1 confirmation — the whole swap takes about 2–5 minutes. The ERC-20 amount is fixed at that confirmation.
4. USDT is paid out on Ethereum The status page links your deposit on Tronscan and the payout on Etherscan. The payout shows as pending until it is mined.

## Before you send — checklist

- The receiving address is an Ethereum address: 0x and 40 hexadecimal characters. A T… address cannot receive ERC-20 tokens.
- If it is an exchange address, the deposit page says USDT on Ethereum (ERC-20). The same 0x… string there may also be offered for BEP-20 or Polygon deposits — those are different ledgers.
- The TRON wallet has energy or TRX for one TRC-20 transfer.
- The Ethereum wallet has, or will get, some ETH. The USDT arrives without it, but cannot leave without it.
- You saved the status link.

## The two mistakes that cost money on this route

### Expecting the whole amount to arrive

The payout is an Ethereum transaction and pays gas. The estimate already subtracts that cost, which is why the USDT figure on the Ethereum side is lower than what you send. On a congested day the gap is wider. Check the estimate before you send, not after.

### A receiving wallet that cannot pay gas

USDT arriving at a fresh 0x… address is visible and yours, and it stays there until the wallet holds ETH. If you plan to use the USDT in a protocol right away, send a little ETH to that address first.

## Other ways to make the same move

| Way | What you need | Where it is slower or dearer |
|---|---|---|
| An exchange account | An account; a TRC-20 deposit, then an ERC-20 withdrawal | Sign-up, a deposit wait, and an ERC-20 withdrawal fee that follows Ethereum gas |
| A bridge | A wallet connected to TRON and Ethereum, TRX and ETH for fees | A bridge fee plus two gas payments; you handle the claim on Ethereum |
| This swap | Two addresses | A floating rate fixed at the TRON confirmation; the Ethereum gas is inside the estimate |

## What is visible on-chain

Tronscan shows your TRC-20 transfer to the deposit address, with the amount and the resources used. Etherscan shows a token transfer from a payout address to your 0x… address, with the amount and the gas paid by the sender. Both records are public; the connection between them exists only on the status page.

## FAQ

Is USDT ERC-20 worth the same as USDT TRC-20?

Yes — both are Tether's USDT at the same price. You receive slightly less because the Ethereum payout pays gas, and that is reflected in the estimate.

How long does it take?

About 2–5 minutes. TRON confirms the deposit in seconds; the Ethereum payout is sent after that and is mined within a block or two.

Do I need ETH to receive the USDT?

Not to receive. You need ETH in that wallet to spend the USDT afterwards.

Why is the minimum higher than on other USDT routes?

Because the payout on Ethereum has to cover gas. The minimum follows the gas price and is shown under the amount field.

Can I send the deposit from an exchange?

Yes. Withdraw USDT on the TRON (TRC-20) network to the deposit address. Exchanges deduct their fee from the amount, so withdraw a little more than the figure shown.

What if the swap cannot be completed?

Write to support with the swap ID from the status page. The form has no refund address: a swap that cannot be completed is handled by hand, and a return to the address you sent from is arranged under the partner's rules, less the network fee.
