# Swap USDT ERC-20 to USDT TRC-20

Move USDT from Ethereum to TRON without an account: enter the amount, paste your T… address and send from any Ethereum wallet.

- **Arrival:** ≈ 4–10 min

- **Confirmations:** 15 on Ethereum

- **Rate:** Floating

- **Fee token after arrival:** TRX (or rented energy)

## When this route is the right one

Your USDT sits on Ethereum, where every transfer costs gas in ETH, and you want it on TRON — the network most invoices, exchange deposit pages and over-the-counter desks mean when they just say "USDT". Typical reasons: paying someone who gave you a T… address, moving a balance to the network where you spend it, or getting out of Ethereum fees before a run of small payments.

An ERC-20 transfer can only credit a 0x… address on Ethereum. A T… address is not a valid destination for it, and most wallets will refuse to build the transaction. So the USDT has to be received on Ethereum and a separate USDT transfer made on TRON. Here both halves are one swap: you sign the Ethereum side, we send the TRON side.

## Ethereum vs TRON — what changes and what doesn't

| | USDT on Ethereum ERC-20 | USDT on TRON TRC-20 |
|---|---|---|
| Address format | 0x… (42 characters) | T… (34 characters) |
| Fee token | ETH | TRX (or rented energy) |
| Confirmations we wait for | 15 | 1 |
| Explorer | etherscan.io | tronscan.org |
| Issued by | Tether | Tether |
| Contract | 0xdAC17F958D2ee523a2206206994597C13D831ec7 | TR7NHqjeKQxGTCi8q8ZY4pL8otSzgjLj6t |

Both are USDT issued by Tether and listed on Tether's own page of supported protocols (checked on 12 October 2026). The difference is the ledger: on Ethereum the balance lives in an ERC-20 contract and moves for gas paid in ETH; on TRON it lives in a TRC-20 contract and moves for energy or TRX. Same issuer, same price, two separate ledgers.

## What happens, in order

1. Enter the amount and the TRON address Paste the 34-character T… address that should receive USDT. The estimate updates as you type; the minimum is shown under the amount.
2. Send USDT on Ethereum You get a one-time 0x… deposit address. Send the USDT from any Ethereum wallet; the wallet pays gas in ETH.
3. Ethereum confirms We wait for 15 confirmations — about 4–10 minutes. The USDT amount for the TRON side is fixed then.
4. USDT is paid out on TRON The status page shows your deposit on Etherscan and the payout on Tronscan. TRON confirms it in a few seconds.

## Before you send — checklist

- The receiving address is a TRON address: 34 characters, starting with T. An 0x… address cannot receive USDT TRC-20.
- If the address belongs to an exchange, its deposit page says USDT on TRON (TRC-20). The same T… address is used there for TRX deposits; open the page for USDT.
- The sending wallet holds enough ETH for one token transfer at today's gas price. The wallet shows the fee before you sign.
- The receiving wallet has, or will get, a little TRX or energy. Receiving costs nothing; moving the USDT on again does.
- You saved the status link. It is the only place the swap is tracked.

## The two mistakes that cost money on this route

### Sending from an exchange on the wrong network

When you withdraw USDT from an exchange to the deposit address, the exchange asks which network to use. The deposit address here is on Ethereum, so the answer is Ethereum (ERC-20). The same 0x… string is also valid on BNB Smart Chain, Polygon and Arbitrum; a withdrawal on one of those lands on a ledger this swap does not watch.

### Underestimating the wait

Ethereum is the slow side of this route. Fifteen confirmations take 4–10 minutes in normal conditions, and the rate floats until they are done. If the price of USDT against itself hardly moves, the fee component still can: the TRON payout fee is taken at confirmation time, not when you saw the estimate.

## Other ways to make the same move

| Way | What you need | Where it is slower or dearer |
|---|---|---|
| An exchange account | An account; a USDT deposit on Ethereum, then a withdrawal on TRON | Sign-up, the exchange's own confirmation count, a withdrawal fee charged in USDT |
| A bridge that supports Ethereum → TRON | A wallet that can sign on both chains, ETH for gas, TRX for the claim | Two signatures, a bridge fee, and your own wait on both explorers |
| This swap | Two addresses | A floating rate fixed when the 15th Ethereum confirmation lands |

## What is visible on-chain

Etherscan shows your wallet calling the USDT contract to transfer tokens to the deposit address: amount, time, gas paid. Tronscan shows a separate transfer of USDT from a payout address to your T… address, with the amount and the energy used. Nothing on either chain references the other; the status page is the only document that pairs the two hashes.

## FAQ

Is USDT on Ethereum the same as USDT on TRON?

Same issuer, same name, same price. Tether lists both contracts on its supported-protocols page. They are not interchangeable on-chain: a balance on Ethereum cannot be spent on TRON.

How long does it take?

About 4–10 minutes. Ethereum needs 15 confirmations before the swap starts; the TRON payout then confirms within seconds.

Why does the Ethereum side need ETH?

An ERC-20 transfer is an Ethereum transaction. USDT cannot pay its own gas; the wallet pays it in ETH. That cost is yours and is separate from the swap.

Will I need TRX afterwards?

Not to receive. Holding USDT on TRON costs nothing. To send it on you need TRX or energy in the receiving wallet.

What is the minimum?

It is shown under the amount field and moves with Ethereum gas and the TRON fee of the payout.

What if the swap cannot be completed?

Write to support with the swap ID from the status page. The form has no refund address: a swap that cannot be completed is handled by hand, and a return to the address you sent from is arranged under the partner's rules, less the network fee.
