Many people end up with BEP-20 USDT without choosing it; this route turns it into BTC in one step.

BNB Smart Chain and Bitcoin have no connection. A BEP-20 transfer credits a 0x… address on BNB Smart Chain and nothing else. The route receives your USDT there, waits for 10 confirmations — about 2–5 minutes — and sends bitcoin to the address you gave. The BTC amount is fixed at the tenth confirmation.

4. Bitcoin is paid out The status page links your BscScan deposit and the Bitcoin transaction. Your wallet shows it as pending until the next Bitcoin block.

## Before you send — checklist

- The bitcoin goes to a mainnet Bitcoin address: 1…, 3…, bc1q… or bc1p….
- If it belongs to an exchange, the deposit page says Bitcoin — the BTC network — not BTCB or another BTC token on BNB Smart Chain.
- The sending wallet is switched to BNB Smart Chain and holds a little BNB for the fee.
- You are sending Binance-Peg USDT, contract 0x55d3…7955, which wallets list simply as USDT (BEP-20). Another dollar token sent to the deposit address is not counted.

## The two mistakes that cost money on this route

### Giving a BTCB address

On BNB Smart Chain there is a token called BTCB that tracks bitcoin, and a wallet holding it shows a 0x… address. That is not a Bitcoin address, and the form rejects it. If what you want is BTCB, this route is the wrong one; it pays bitcoin on the Bitcoin network to a 1…, 3… or bc1… address.

### Sending from Ethereum by mistake

The deposit address is a 0x… string and is technically valid on Ethereum, Polygon and other chains that share the format. Only a transfer on BNB Smart Chain is watched. Check the network selector in the wallet — and on an exchange withdrawal page, pick BEP-20 — before you confirm.

BscScan shows a BEP-20 transfer of USDT from your 0x… address to the deposit address with the amount and the BNB fee. On the Bitcoin explorer the payout appears as a transaction to your address — amount, fee and the inputs it spent. Both records are permanent and open, and nothing on one chain points to the other.

Is USDT on BNB Smart Chain issued by Tether?

No. It is Binance-Peg USDT, issued by Binance and backed one to one by USDT it holds. Wallets and exchanges list it as USDT; this route accepts it as the deposit.

Do I need BNB?

Yes, in the wallet you send from — a BEP-20 transfer pays its fee in BNB. The amount is small.

Which Bitcoin address type should I give?

Any mainnet format your wallet offers: bc1q… is the usual choice; 1…, 3… and bc1p… also work.

What is the minimum?

It is shown under the amount field and follows the Bitcoin fee market, because the payout pays a Bitcoin fee.

What if the swap cannot be completed?

Write to support with the swap ID from the status page. The form has no refund address: a swap that cannot be completed is handled by hand, and a return to the address you sent from is arranged under the partner's rules, less the network fee.
