# Swap BTC to USDT BEP-20

Swap Bitcoin for USDT on BNB Smart Chain without an account: enter the amount, paste a 0x… address and send BTC from any Bitcoin wallet.

- **Arrival:** ≈ 21–44 min

- **Confirmations:** 2 on Bitcoin

- **Rate:** Floating

- **Fee token after arrival:** BNB

## When this route is the right one

You hold BTC and want dollars on BNB Smart Chain — for an app there, for an exchange deposit page that says BEP-20, or because it is a cheap network to hold and move USDT on. The USDT there is Binance-Peg USDT, issued by Binance and backed one to one; wallets list it as USDT (BEP-20).

A Bitcoin transaction reaches only a Bitcoin address; a BNB Smart Chain wallet cannot receive it. The BTC is received here and confirmed on Bitcoin — 2 confirmations, which at the 10-minute block target means about 21–44 minutes — then USDT is transferred on BNB Smart Chain to the 0x… address you gave. Bitcoin is the slow leg of this route; the payout itself takes seconds.

## BTC vs USDT BEP-20 — side by side

| | BTC on Bitcoin | USDT on BNB Smart Chain BEP-20 |
|---|---|---|
| Address format | 1…, 3…, bc1… | 0x… (42 characters) |
| Fee token | BTC | BNB |
| Confirmations we wait for | 2 | 10 |
| Explorer | blockchain.com | bscscan.com |

## What happens, in order

1. Enter the BTC amount and your BNB Smart Chain address Paste the 0x… address that should receive USDT. The estimate is in USDT.
2. Send BTC to the deposit address You get a one-time Bitcoin deposit address. Send from any Bitcoin wallet, in one transaction, with a fee rate that the current mempool will confirm in reasonable time.
3. Bitcoin confirms 2 confirmations, about 21–44 minutes. The USDT amount is fixed at the second block.
4. USDT is paid out on BNB Smart Chain The status page links the BscScan transaction that transfers USDT to your address.

## Before you send — checklist

- The receiving address is a 0x… address that you will open on BNB Smart Chain — the same format as Ethereum, a different network.
- If it is an exchange address, its USDT deposit page says BEP-20 or BNB Smart Chain.
- The fee rate on the Bitcoin transaction is set for the current mempool. A low rate can wait hours for the first confirmation, and the rate floats the whole time.
- There is, or will be, a little BNB on the receiving side for the day you move the USDT on.
- You saved the status link. It is the only place the swap is tracked.

## The two mistakes that cost money on this route

### A fee rate set too low

The swap starts at the second Bitcoin confirmation, and the rate floats until then. A transaction sent at a fee rate below what the mempool is clearing can sit unconfirmed for hours; the USDT amount is then whatever the rate is when it finally confirms. Check a mempool view before you send and pay a rate that gets into the next few blocks.

### Sending the deposit in two transactions

The deposit address expects the amount in one transaction. Two smaller payments may not be matched as one deposit, and one of them may fall under the minimum. Send once, the full amount, from a wallet you control.

## Other ways to make the same move

| Way | What you need | Where it is slower or dearer |
|---|---|---|
| An exchange account | An account, a BTC deposit with the exchange's confirmation count, a sale, a BEP-20 withdrawal | Two waits and a withdrawal fee |
| A wrapped-BTC bridge and a DEX | A wallet on BNB Smart Chain with BNB for gas, a bridge that mints a wrapped BTC token, a swap | A custodial wrapped token in between and at least three signatures |
| This swap | Two addresses | A floating rate fixed at the second Bitcoin confirmation |

## What is visible on-chain

The Bitcoin side is fully public: an explorer shows your wallet's inputs paying the deposit address, the amount, the fee rate and the block. BscScan shows a payout address transferring USDT to your 0x… address with the amount and the time. Nothing on either chain refers to the other; the status link is the only thing that joins them.

## FAQ

How long does it take?

About 21–44 minutes, almost all of it the 2 Bitcoin confirmations. The BNB Smart Chain payout confirms within seconds after that.

What is the minimum?

The form shows it under the amount field. It moves with the BNB Smart Chain fee of the payout and the BTC price.

What if the swap cannot be completed?

Write to support with the swap ID from the status page. The form has no refund address: a swap that cannot be completed is handled by hand, and a return to the address you sent from is arranged under the partner's rules, less the network fee.

Is USDT on BNB Smart Chain issued by Tether?

No. It is Binance-Peg USDT, issued by Binance and backed one to one with USDT. Wallets and exchanges list it as USDT (BEP-20), and it trades at the same price, but it is a pegged token.

Do I need BNB to receive?

Not to receive — the sender pays the gas. The first transfer out of the wallet needs BNB, so top up a small amount before you plan to move the USDT.

Can I send BTC from an exchange?

Yes, withdrawing on the Bitcoin network to the deposit address. Exchanges deduct their withdrawal fee from the amount, so withdraw a little more than the figure on this page; the first confirmation can take longer than from your own wallet.
