Checked on 14 October 2026 against docs.bnbchain.org (the BNB Smart Chain overview and introduction pages, and the Lorentz, Maxwell and Fermi announcement pages with their activation times), the BEP repository on github.com (BEP-20, BEP-95, BEP-520, BEP-524) and bnbburn.info for the Auto-Burn formula. The route data this site is built from still counts BNB Smart Chain at the 3-second interval, which is why its time estimates are generous.

## Which network should the BNB arrive on?

- **The same 0x… address as Ethereum.:** A BNB Smart Chain address is 0x followed by 40 hexadecimal characters, exactly like an Ethereum address, and the same private key gives the same address on both. The address does not say which network it is on; the person or service giving it does.

- **An exchange is receiving.:** Use the BNB deposit address and check that the deposit page says BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20). Most exchanges also list BNB on other networks; a deposit on the wrong one may not be credited.

- **Your own wallet is receiving.:** Any wallet that supports BNB Smart Chain works; many Ethereum wallets do after the network is added. Once BNB is there, it pays for every transfer from the wallet, including sending USDT BEP-20.

- **You hold USDT BEP-20 and no BNB.:** Then the USDT cannot be sent. Choose USDT on TRON (or another asset) as the first side and BNB as the second in the form, and send a small amount to the same 0x… address that holds the USDT.

## How to swap BNB

1. Choose the two sides. Pick what you hold, then BNB — or BNB, then what you want. The form shows whether the route is available and at what rate.
2. Enter the amount. The estimate updates as you type and refreshes every 60 seconds. The minimum for the route is shown under the field.
3. Paste the receiving address. For a BNB payout the form checks for a 0x… address of 42 characters. It cannot tell BNB Smart Chain from Ethereum by the format, so check that yourself.
4. Send the deposit. You get a one-time deposit address. Send the exact amount, in one transaction, on the network you selected.
5. Follow it. The status page shows each stage and both transaction hashes. The BNB Smart Chain side can be watched on BscScan.

## Before you send — checklist

- The receiving address is 0x… with 42 characters, and the receiver expects BNB on BNB Smart Chain — not Ethereum, not BEP-2.
- If BNB is what you send, a little BNB stays in the wallet after the deposit for the fee.
- If USDT BEP-20 is what you send, the wallet holds some BNB to pay for the transfer.
- If you send from an exchange, the withdrawal network is BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20).
- The status link is saved.

## What a BNB swap costs

- **The rate is floating.** The estimate follows the market and is fixed when your deposit confirms. A BNB deposit is counted after 15 confirmations on BNB Smart Chain, about 2–6 minutes; a USDT BEP-20 deposit after 10, about 2–5 minutes.
- **The network fee for the payout** is shown in the form and already taken out of "You get". Payouts on BNB Smart Chain are usually cheap compared with Ethereum.
- **Sending the deposit** costs your wallet a fee in BNB on BNB Smart Chain. That fee is not part of the swap.

Small amounts cost more in percent, because the payout network fee is the same size for a small swap as for a large one. On BNB Smart Chain that fixed part is small.

## How BNB Smart Chain works for a sender — blocks, finality, gas

The numbers below were checked on 14 October 2026 against docs.bnbchain.org and the BEP repository on github.com.

### A block every 0.45 seconds

BNB Smart Chain ran on 3-second blocks from its launch on 1 September 2020 until April 2025. Three hard forks then cut the interval in steps: Lorentz (BEP-520) to 1.5 seconds on 29 April 2025, Maxwell (BEP-524) to 0.75 seconds on 30 June 2025, and Fermi (BEP-619) to 0.45 seconds on 14 January 2026. The docs describe the chain as finalising within two blocks when enough validators vote normally — about 1.1 seconds — under the fast-finality rules introduced with the Plato upgrade.

### What that means for the confirmations the site waits for

The route data behind this site counts a BNB deposit after **15** confirmations and a USDT BEP-20 deposit after **10** , and it still prices those blocks at the old 3-second interval. That is why the estimate reads 2–6 minutes for BNB and 2–5 minutes for USDT BEP-20: the window is generous. On today's chain fifteen blocks arrive in seconds, and almost all of the elapsed time is the matching of your deposit and the preparation of the payout. A swap from BNB Smart Chain is, in practice, among the quickest on this site.

| Confirmations | For a BNB deposit |
|---|---|
| 0 | Broadcast, visible on BscScan as pending; not counted |
| 1 | In a block; the status page starts counting |
| 15 | The rate is fixed and the payout is prepared |

### Gas: who pays and in what

Every transaction on BNB Smart Chain pays gas in BNB — a plain transfer of BNB, and equally a transfer of any BEP-20 token. The sender pays. A wallet holding USDT BEP-20 and no BNB shows the balance and cannot move it; the [BNB page](https://sablebolt.io/coin/bnb) above explains how to put a little BNB next to it. Gas on BNB Smart Chain is a per-unit price times the units a transaction uses; a token transfer uses more units than a plain BNB transfer, so it costs more BNB, but both are usually small next to Ethereum.

### Consensus and validators

The chain uses Proof of Staked Authority: 45 active validators, 21 Cabinet and 24 Candidate, take turns producing blocks, and BNB staked with them decides who is in the set. For a sender this has one visible consequence — blocks come on a steady clock rather than at random intervals, so a deposit's timing is predictable in a way a Bitcoin deposit's is not.

### Two burns, no amounts

BNB's supply is designed to fall. BEP-95 burns a fixed ratio of the gas fee collected in each block — the ratio is a parameter validators can change, set to 10% when the BEP was introduced. Separately, a quarterly Auto-Burn removes an amount calculated from the quarter's median BNB price and a normalised block count, with a stated goal of reducing total supply to 100,000,000 BNB. Neither burn touches a transfer: the fee you pay is the fee you pay, and what is burned afterwards is the validators' share, not yours.

**The chain is fast; the form's estimate is not wrong, only cautious.** If the status page shows a BNB Smart Chain deposit at 15 of 15 within seconds and then waits a minute or two, that is the payout being prepared, not a stuck transaction.

## BNB Smart Chain addresses — 0x…, the same as Ethereum

BNB Smart Chain is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine, and its addresses are Ethereum addresses: 0x followed by 40 hexadecimal characters, 42 in all. The same private key produces the same address on Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Polygon, Base and every other EVM network. The address does not say which network it is on. The person or service that gives it to you does.

| You see | It is | Accepted for a BNB payout |
|---|---|---|
| 0x… (42 characters) | An EVM address — BNB Smart Chain, Ethereum, Polygon, Base or any other | Yes, and the payout lands on BNB Smart Chain |
| bnb1… | A BNB Beacon Chain (BEP-2) address; that chain was shut down in November 2024 | No |
| T… (34 characters) | TRON | No |
| 0x… with mixed-case letters | The same address with an EIP-55 checksum encoded in the letter case | Yes |

### What the form accepts

For a BNB payout the form takes a 0x… address of 42 hexadecimal characters. Mixed-case letters in such an address carry an EIP-55 checksum that wallets use to catch typing errors; an all-lowercase address is valid too, with no checksum to check. The form cannot tell BNB Smart Chain from Ethereum by the format — nothing can — so the one check that matters is yours: the receiving side must expect BNB on BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20). The deposit address the form shows for a BNB or USDT BEP-20 deposit is an ordinary 0x… address on BNB Smart Chain.

### Which address to give

1. **Your own wallet:** the address on its Receive screen, with the wallet switched to BNB Smart Chain. In most wallets that is the same string as on Ethereum; switching the network changes what the wallet shows, not the address.
2. **An exchange:** the BNB deposit address from its deposit page, with the network set to BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20). Many exchanges list BNB on more than one network; the address for BEP-20 is the one to copy.
3. **Another person:** ask for their BNB Smart Chain address and say the network out loud. A 0x… address they use for ETH will also receive BNB, but only if they know to look at BNB Smart Chain for it.

### Memos, tags and the old chain

BNB Smart Chain has no memo, tag or extra field. The memo some exchange pages still mention belonged to BNB Beacon Chain, the earlier network with bnb1… addresses and BEP-2 tokens, which BNB Chain shut down in November 2024 (its sunset plan, read on docs.bnbchain.org). If a deposit page offers BNB with a memo field, it is a stale page or a different network; use the BEP-20 option.

### The same address, three networks of USDT

A wallet address on BNB Smart Chain can also hold USDT BEP-20, and the same 0x… string on Ethereum can hold USDT ERC-20. That is the usual way USDT ends up on the wrong network: a person copies the address that works and the sender picks the network that was on screen. [Sent USDT to the wrong network](https://sablebolt.io/blog/sent-usdt-to-the-wrong-network) covers what can and cannot be done afterwards.

## Checking a BNB Smart Chain transaction — what BscScan shows

Every transaction on BNB Smart Chain has a 66-character hash beginning with 0x. The status page links the BNB Smart Chain side of a swap to BscScan, where the hash opens a page with the fields below. (BscScan is built by the Etherscan team, so a reader who knows Etherscan knows this layout.)

**At the top:** the status — Success, Pending or Fail — then the block number and the number of confirmations since, the timestamp, the From and To addresses, the value in BNB, and the transaction fee in BNB with the gas price it was paid at. **For a token transfer** the Value line shows 0 BNB, because no BNB moved; the token amount appears in a separate "Tokens Transferred" line naming the token, the amount, the sender and the receiver. That line is where a USDT BEP-20 deposit is found. **Lower down:** gas limit and gas used, the nonce, and the input data, which for a token transfer encodes the receiver and amount.

### A deposit you sent

1. Copy the hash from your wallet or from the exchange's withdrawal history — the hash, not the address.
2. Open it on BscScan. If the page says the transaction cannot be found, it was not broadcast on BNB Smart Chain. An exchange withdrawal that was sent on another network has a hash on that network's explorer instead; check the network named in the withdrawal record.
3. Check the To address (for BNB) or the receiver in Tokens Transferred (for USDT BEP-20) against the deposit address from the form, and the amount against the figure you entered.
4. Fail in red means the transaction was mined but reverted — out of gas, or a token contract that refused it. Nothing moved except the fee; send again.
5. The status page updates on its own as confirmations arrive.

### A payout you received

1. Open the payout hash from the status page on BscScan.
2. For a BNB payout, your address is the To address and the Value line is "You get" from the form, with the network fee already taken out. For USDT BEP-20, look in Tokens Transferred.
3. A wallet that does not show the token: it arrived — BscScan's balance page for your address lists every BEP-20 token held — but the wallet has not been told to display it. Add the token by its contract address. [Wallet shows zero after a USDT transfer](https://sablebolt.io/blog/wallet-shows-zero-after-usdt-transfer) walks through it.
4. Keep the hash. It is the evidence the payout happened and what support on either side will ask for.

### Reading a pending transaction

Pending on BscScan means the transaction is known to the network and waiting for a block. On a chain with 0.45-second blocks that state should last a moment; a transaction that stays pending for minutes was sent with a gas price below what validators accept, and the sending wallet is where it is fixed — most wallets offer a speed-up that resends with a higher gas price and the same nonce.

[What a block explorer shows about a swap](https://sablebolt.io/blog/what-a-block-explorer-shows-about-a-swap) does the same walk for other networks; [Reading a swap status page](https://sablebolt.io/blog/reading-a-swap-status-page) explains each stage of the status page itself.

## The mistakes that cost money with BNB

BNB's mistakes are mistakes of networks, not of addresses. The address is always valid somewhere; the question is whether the coins went where the swap is looking.

| Mistake | What happens | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| BNB sent on Ethereum, opBNB or another chain to the BNB Smart Chain deposit address | The transaction succeeds on that other chain; the swap never sees it | Only the network it was sent on can show it. Contact [support](https://sablebolt.io/support) with the hash and the network; recovery depends on the network |
| USDT BEP-20 held with no BNB for gas | The balance shows and cannot be sent; the deposit is never made | Swap a small amount into BNB in the form, to the same address, then send |
| BNB withdrawn from an exchange on the BEP-2 or opBNB option | It cannot reach a BNB Smart Chain address, or lands on a chain the swap does not watch | Choose BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20) on the withdrawal form |
| ETH sent to the deposit address on Ethereum because the address "looked the same" | The ETH sits at that address on Ethereum | It is not lost, but only the holder of the deposit address can move it; contact support with the hash |
| Gas price set below the network's floor | The transaction stays pending | Speed it up from the wallet, or wait and resend after it drops |
| A payout address copied from an exchange's Ethereum deposit page | The BNB lands on BNB Smart Chain at an address the exchange only watches on Ethereum | Ask the exchange; many credit it after a manual check, some do not |

### The same address on the wrong chain

This is the mistake behind most support tickets on EVM networks. A deposit address shown for BNB Smart Chain is also a valid address on Ethereum, Polygon, Base, Arbitrum and opBNB. Send to it on any of those and the transaction confirms — on that chain. The swap watches BNB Smart Chain only. Before you press Send, read the network name in your wallet or on the exchange's withdrawal form, not the address.

### No BNB next to the USDT

A wallet that received USDT BEP-20 from an exchange or from a swap has a token and no way to pay to move it. The fix is a small amount of BNB at the same address; the form can do it with any coin you hold as the first side and BNB as the second. The amount needed is tiny next to the USDT, and it stays useful for every later transfer.

### Less arrives than the form expects

Exchanges take their withdrawal fee out of the amount you type. Enter the swap amount and the deposit arrives short; the swap runs on what arrived, and if the shortfall takes it under the route's minimum it cannot be processed as a swap at all. Set the withdrawal so that the amount arriving matches the form. [Minimums, maximums and network fees on small swaps](https://sablebolt.io/blog/minimums-maximums-network-fees-small-swaps) shows how the minimum is set.

**Nothing on BNB Smart Chain is reversible once it is in a block** , and blocks come every 0.45 seconds. The checks happen before Send, or not at all.

## What changed on BNB Smart Chain, and when — dated, with sources

BNB Smart Chain changes often and by hard fork, which is unusual among the networks here. Four changes since 2024 matter to someone sending or receiving on it; each has a date on docs.bnbchain.org, read on 14 October 2026.

| Change | Date (UTC) | For a sender | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| BNB Beacon Chain shut down | November 2024 | bnb1… addresses and BEP-2 tokens stopped; "memo" fields for BNB became meaningless | BNB Chain's sunset plan, docs.bnbchain.org |
| Lorentz hard fork, BEP-520 | 29 April 2025, 05:05 | Block interval 3 s → 1.5 s | Lorentz announcement, docs.bnbchain.org |
| Maxwell hard fork, BEP-524 | 30 June 2025, 02:30 | Block interval 1.5 s → 0.75 s | Maxwell announcement, docs.bnbchain.org |
| Fermi hard fork, BEP-619 | 14 January 2026, 02:30 | Block interval 0.75 s → 0.45 s; extended fast-finality voting rules (BEP-590) | Fermi announcement, docs.bnbchain.org |

**The Beacon Chain sunset, November 2024.** BNB began on BNB Beacon Chain, a separate network with bnb1… addresses, BEP-2 tokens and a memo field for exchange deposits. BNB Chain retired it in November 2024, and BNB Smart Chain is now the only chain the ticker refers to. Exchange pages were updated at different speeds; some still mention BEP-2 or a memo. Both are history. This site has only ever used BNB Smart Chain.

**Three forks, one goal, April 2025 to January 2026.** The short-block-interval roadmap ran in three phases. BEP-520 halved the interval to 1.5 seconds with Lorentz; BEP-524 halved it again to 0.75 with Maxwell; BEP-619 took it to 0.45 with Fermi. For a sender the visible result is that confirmations which once took 45 seconds now take about seven, and that the status page's counter moves faster than the estimate next to it suggests.

**Fast finality.** Fast finality arrived earlier, with the Plato upgrade, and Fermi's BEP-590 extended its voting rules. The docs describe the chain as final within two blocks when validators vote normally. A transaction that has been final for a second cannot be reorganised away, which is why fifteen confirmations here are a comfortable margin rather than a necessary one.

**Later forks.** The BSC client's release notes on github.com list further mainnet hard forks in 2026 — Osaka/Mendel on 28 April and Pasteur on 25 August — without a change to the block interval. Hard forks on BNB Smart Chain are routine and do not require anything from a sender: the wallet, the address format and the token standard are unchanged through all of them.

**What has not changed.** The 0x… address, gas paid in BNB, BEP-20 as the token standard, and BscScan as the place to look. A transfer made in 2021 and a transfer made today look the same on the explorer; only the block numbers climb faster.

## BNB Smart Chain next to TRON, for USDT

Most people who hold BNB hold it because of USDT: it is the gas for USDT on BNB Smart Chain, as TRX is the gas for USDT on TRON. The two networks carry the same dollar token with different mechanics. The table uses the confirmation counts and times the site is built from and what was checked on docs.bnbchain.org on 14 October 2026; the TRON side is described on [the TRON page](https://sablebolt.io/coin/tron) .

| | USDT on BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20) | USDT on TRON (TRC-20) |
|---|---|---|
| Address | 0x…, 42 characters, shared with Ethereum | T…, 34 characters, TRON only |
| Confirmations the site waits for | 10 | 1 |
| Deposit confirmed in about | 2–5 min | 2–5 min |
| Block interval | 0.45 s | 3 s |
| Fee paid in | BNB, as gas | TRX, or bandwidth and energy staked or rented |
| Can the fee be prepaid or rented? | No; BNB must sit in the wallet | Yes; energy can be rented, and staked TRX gives free bandwidth |
| Wallet needs for a first transfer | BNB in the same address | TRX in the same address, or rented energy |
| Risk of the wrong network | High: 0x… is valid on many chains | Low: T… exists on TRON only |
| Routes here | [USDT TRC-20 → BEP-20](https://sablebolt.io/swap/usdt-trc20/usdt-bep20) , [USDT BEP-20 → TRC-20](https://sablebolt.io/swap/usdt-bep20/usdt-trc20) , [USDT BEP-20 → BTC](https://sablebolt.io/swap/usdt-bep20/btc) | [USDT TRC-20 → BTC](https://sablebolt.io/swap/usdt-trc20/btc) , [→ ETH](https://sablebolt.io/swap/usdt-trc20/eth) , [→ XMR](https://sablebolt.io/swap/usdt-trc20/xmr) and others on [the Tether page](https://sablebolt.io/coin/tether) |

**Addresses.** TRON's T… address cannot be confused with anything else, and the form rejects it for every other network. BNB Smart Chain's 0x… is the same string the receiver uses on Ethereum, Polygon and Base, which is convenient for wallets and the source of most wrong-network transfers. If the receiver is a person who is not sure which network they use, TRON is the safer target.

**Fees.** On BNB Smart Chain the fee is gas in BNB, paid from the sending wallet, with no way around holding some. On TRON the fee is paid in bandwidth and energy, which come from staking TRX or can be rented for a single transfer; a wallet with USDT and no TRX can still send if energy is rented in. [TRON energy and bandwidth](https://sablebolt.io/blog/tron-energy-and-bandwidth) explains that system; [USDT network fees compared](https://sablebolt.io/blog/usdt-network-fees-compared) puts the networks side by side.

**Time.** Both deposits are counted as 2–5 minutes here. TRON's single confirmation at 3-second blocks and BNB Smart Chain's ten at 0.45 seconds are each a matter of seconds; the rest is processing.

**Where it is accepted.** Exchanges list USDT on both networks almost everywhere, and [Which USDT networks exchanges accept](https://sablebolt.io/blog/which-usdt-networks-exchanges-accept) has the survey. Moving between them is one swap: [USDT TRC-20 to BEP-20, three ways](https://sablebolt.io/blog/usdt-trc20-to-bep20-three-ways) compares the options, and the form on this page does it with two addresses.

## About BNB — only what a swapper needs

BNB Smart Chain launched in 2020 as a network compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine: the same address format, the same kind of smart contracts, the same wallets after adding the network. Its native coin is BNB, and BNB pays the gas for every transaction on it (BNB Chain documentation, checked on 11 October 2026).

Tokens on BNB Smart Chain follow the BEP-20 standard, the chain's equivalent of ERC-20. USDT on BNB Smart Chain is such a token, issued by Binance as Binance-Peg USDT and backed one to one by USDT held by Binance. It carries the same name and price as USDT elsewhere, and this site swaps it on the routes listed above. Every one of those transfers pays gas in BNB.

That makes BNB the coin people hold without thinking about it. A wallet with USDT BEP-20 and no BNB shows the balance and cannot touch it. A small BNB balance, enough for the next transfers, is what keeps the USDT usable. If you are about to receive USDT on BNB Smart Chain from one of the routes below, put a little BNB into the same address first, or swap some in the form right after.

BNB has no route page of its own on this site, because the pages here exist only for the routes people search for by name, and BNB is mostly swapped as a side step. The form does it: choose BNB as either side and the form shows the rate and the minimum, like any other route. The payout lands on BNB Smart Chain.

Two things are easy to confuse. BNB used to exist on the BNB Beacon Chain as a BEP-2 asset, with addresses starting with bnb1; that chain was shut down in November 2024 (BNB Chain's sunset plan, checked on 11 October 2026), but some exchange pages still carry the old label. This site uses BNB Smart Chain only. And Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain share the 0x… address format, so a BNB Smart Chain address pasted into an Ethereum withdrawal form looks right and goes to the wrong network.

## FAQ

Why is there no BNB route page?

Route pages exist for the swaps people look up by name. BNB is usually a side step — the fee coin next to USDT — so it is swapped in the form on this page and on any route page, without a page of its own.

How do I get a little BNB for my USDT BEP-20 wallet?

Choose what you hold as the first side and BNB as the second in the form, and give the same 0x… address that holds the USDT. A small amount is enough for many transfers.

Is a BNB Smart Chain address the same as an Ethereum address?

Same format, same key, different network. A transfer lands on the network it was sent on. Check the network name on the receiving side, not the address.

How long does it take?

A BNB deposit counts 15 confirmations, about 2–6 minutes. A USDT BEP-20 deposit counts 10, about 2–5 minutes. A swap into BNB depends on the network you send from.

What is BEP-2?

The token standard of BNB Beacon Chain, an older network with bnb1… addresses that was shut down in November 2024. If a withdrawal form still offers it, do not use it. This site uses BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20) only.

What is the minimum?

It is shown under the amount field for the pair you selected and moves with network fees.

How fast are BNB Smart Chain blocks now?

0.45 seconds, since the Fermi hard fork on 14 January 2026. They were 3 seconds until April 2025, 1.5 after Lorentz and 0.75 after Maxwell. The site's estimate still counts at the old interval, so it is generous.

Do I need a memo to send BNB?

No. BNB Smart Chain has no memo or tag. Memos belonged to the Beacon Chain, which is closed. If a deposit page shows a memo for BNB, it is for a different network or an outdated page.

I sent BNB on the wrong network. Is it gone?

It is on the network you sent it on, at the deposit address. Only the holder of that address can move it there. Contact support with the hash and the network name; what can be done depends on the network.

Can I send BNB from an exchange?

Yes. Withdraw on BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20) to the deposit address, and set the withdrawal so that the amount arriving matches the figure in the form, because the exchange takes its fee out of what you type.

Why is my transaction pending on BscScan?

The gas price is below what validators are taking, so it waits. On a 0.45-second chain that should never last more than a moment; if it does, use the wallet's speed-up, which resends with a higher gas price.

Does the BNB burn affect my transfer?

No. BEP-95 burns a share of the gas fee after it is paid, and the quarterly Auto-Burn removes BNB from the supply by formula. Neither changes the fee you pay or the amount that arrives.
